RETURNED and Manifest

I've been approached lately by some of our fans at sci-fi conventions and via facebookyoutube and Instagram about several similarities between the new series Manifest and our feature film Returned. I was really blown away by the similarities in the show’s trailer so I create a comparison video with both the TV show and my feature film. I created this blog to clarify that we haven't stolen ideas from the show because we published the Returned novelization and started posting photos of film production dated years before the TV show.

Returned now in production announcement was made on July 7th 2014 and can be found on facebook  here. The film and novel is about a young man named Benjamin who is losing his battle with cancer. He boards a plane to New York for additional chemotherapy when his flight 0850 mysteriously disappears. Ben wakes up in a hospital 12 years later with no memory of what happened to him or where he’s been. Ben becomes the FBI's prime suspect in their investigation and keep a close watch on him by tracking a phone they provided him with. When Ben is released he finds himself on an unlikely journey to discover that the answers he’s looking for may lie far beyond this world.  I made several promo videos that show the making of Returned as well as interviews and events on our  YouTube Channel  and on the website  returnedmovie.com.

  2. I had the pleasure of seeing the original movie Returned and loved it. It sickens me that someone would blatantly copy the work of someone else and pass it off as their own like this. This is shameful.

  4. An absolute disgrace. To use and misuse the talent and hardwork an artist put in without their knowledge or consent is utterly disrespectful. This was definitely lifted scene for scene,to the letter.

  5. If you watch both trailers, I think it is pretty clear. Whether Returned was used as reference to their show or not... I don't find it ironic that the plot is the same, the character's name Ben is the same, their is some form of sickness being dealt with after the plane returns, the graphic used, etc. It is sad that things like this still happen even with all the money these networks have to hire writers and create shows from scratch. It is simply disrespectful to take from someone and claim it as your own; building an empire off the backs of others.

  8. I watched the movie Returned and enjoyed it. This TV show completely lifted and jacked the script. Very WRONG and DISRESPECTFUL.

  9. Yes Manafest is straight up copy of my brother's movie. A movie in which he worked hard on was published and available for consumers long before Manifest. Obviously Returned was seen by those behind Mansfest and they figured they could plagiarize without notice. SO WRONG YOU WERE!!!

  11. This is OBVIOUSLY copyright infringement. An outrageous case of it. Please seek justice and get your compensation because this is egregious.

  12. Whoa... this is a serious violation of intellectual property.

I mean I get that between the world being so small and as part of the human collective, a lot of us have similar backgrounds\experiences that may permit any two or more people having similar ideas; but even then it gets down to individuality and originality. To straight rip someone else's idea is just foul. You guys need to lawyer up and negotiate royalties or copyright infringement or something.

  15. 2 things probably have happened 1,someone has been snooping around and found that script, and took it and changed it around or 2 someone on the (team) talks a little to much and did something they weren’t supposed to do cause from the outside looking in,it looks like someone gave a copy of the rough draft of the movie,if their is one, How is it that every scene in this movie is just alike?same content just some of the dialogues are some what different Someone on the team is running they mouth about it and giving ideas to someone else, show business, movie business, and music business can be a dirty business. We’ve seen on tv and the media how evil some people are and can be,they are good for taken advantage of other people and their ideas and run with it This looks like a movie called LSA(Law Suit Action)
